The Jaeger-LeCoultre was founded in 1833 when Antoine LeCoultre, son of watchmaker Jacque LeCoultre, opened a small workshop in the Swiss town of Le Sentier. LeCoultre was awarded a gold medal for his precision and mechanization as recognition of his collective works in watch industry in 1851 at the first Universal Exhibition in London.
